Purpose of this blog

Personal missionary work as a coordinator for the college students who graduated from Institution Univers in Ouanaminthe, HAITI.

I act as a liaison for those currently in college and their sponsors, until the students have all graduated, whether in USA, Haiti or the Dominican Republic.
As well, I encourage those who have graduated from college but have not yet returned to Haiti, to return to fulfill the purpose of their education, for themselves, their families, their country and most importantly, for God.

Our third of four Lindsey Wilson College students opportunity

If you have followed the last two years of my blog you are aware that Lindsey Wilson College (LWC) in Columbia, KY has offered a full tuition scholarship to four Univers graduates to be accepted for four years, so each may receive their bachelors degree. So far, Evelyne Cherenfant and Fritz Ludens Narcisse are studying at LWC as a sophomore and freshman, respectively. For those of you who may be new to the blog or missed reading about this generous scholarship here is information:

Institution Univers has secured a very strong tuition scholarship offer for a student to attend Lindsey Wilson College, www.lindsey.eduLindsey Wilson's tuition for this coming college year of 2015-2016 is $22,320.
The costs that need to be covered by donors for the room and board, fees and insurance (the living expenses are stated later in this post) are as follows:
Activity fee  $146
Technology fee $96
Insurance $275
Room and Board $8900
For a combined total cost $9,417 for the 2015-16 school year.
The meal plan includes 19 meals a week of "all you can eat" meals and in the room, all utilities, wireless Internet access etc.
The LWC scholarship offering is for four students for four years, welcoming a new student each year, so by the fourth year in the cycle we will have four Univers graduates attending at the same time--a freshman, sophomore, junior and senior.
Additionally, the breakdown of cost estimate needed over and above the room/board, fees and insurance are:
- One time costs: $2,000 for the student's U.S. Visa, and $500 dorm set-up the first year.
- Recurring costs includes one trip home to Haiti per year, room and board, approximately $1,200 for books, health insurance, class fees and $500 for clothing ( amounts provided are based on the costs incurred for students who are already at LWC).

The grand total of the financial sponsor commitment needed for this coming year is $14,500, and future three years each of $12,500 (this amount does not account for room/board, fee and insurance increases in the future).

COCINA (www.haiticocina.org) is a 501(c)3 and is willing to allow the donor to pay these costs through the Foundation, therefore the donor should check with their accountant to see if they will qualify to receive favorable charitable tax treatment for the costs.

Donors can be an individual, group of individuals, a church, a corporation, etc. so I look to you to prayerfully consider if you should participate or who you may approach in your circles of influence regarding this opportunity.
Thus far we have a gentleman who has donated $3,000 towards the costs to bring Jaccine Jeador to LWC. He is willing to match all other donations, dollar for dollar.

Please prayerfully consider to be part this opportunity as you will be part of changing a life, a family, a community, and a country.

For those of you who may attend a Methodist Church, this is a United Methodist Church affiliated college. Here's an important webpage from their website: http://www.lindsey.edu/campus-life/spiritual-life.aspx

You may make the check payable to COCINA in whatever amount you are led to give and send it to me as I am managing the "matching program".

Please contact me for the address to use to send your donation. Thank you for your time and consideration, and I look forward to hearing from you.

All for Him,
Marylee

Here's Jaccine, on the right in the red shirt!
